Kawakawa is a potent medicinal plant with centuries of traditional use by Maori and backed by modern day science. Among it's many bioactive molecules is Myristicin, which has known anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and insecticidal properties. It is also a mild analgesic, helping to safely relieve mild pain. We have kept this formula extremely basic to ensure the kawakawa is at its most potent concentration. Healing, nourishing and safe.

Can be used for -

  • eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis
  • nappy rash and cradle cap
  • bumps, bruises, sore muscles and joints
  • insect bites, cuts, rashes and burns
  • chapped lips
  • tattoo balm

Kawakawa leaves are steeped in high concentrations with a blend of grapeseed and olive oil, then mixed with beeswax from our own bees. And that's it! I've chosen grapeseed oil as it is light and penetrates deeply into the skin, drawing in the bioactive benefits of the kawakawa. Olive oil and beeswax provide extra moisture, and protection.

We are so lucky to have a plentiful supply of our own kawakawa, and I regularly enjoy kawakawa tea which is a fantastic digestive tonic. I harvest kawakawa in the traditional manner, and ensure I pick the leaves with the most holes. The kawakawa looper moth has evolved to be resistant to the plants insecticidal properties, and in response the plant increases it's potency to the leaves that are being attacked - so those are the leaves that are traditionally harvested.

It has so many uses, that I keep tins of this everywhere - in my daughters bag, by the front door, in the bathroom and in our car.
